February 2005: Requestec deliver new functionality to
existing Video Short Code service Already up and running for 3 months, video short codes
allow users to dial a 5-digit code and have video content streamed to
their 3G handsets. Following the initial offering of a pre-recorded, one-way
stream per short code, users can now view live content, as well as interact
with the Requestec 3G video conferencing platform. Graphics overlayed
on the video streams allow users to make choices with their telephone
keypads and the video from their own camera is relayed to our servers,
allowing for some hugely compelling 2-way video chat and conferencing
services. Premium rate, per second billing means that 3G video
delivery offers a mobile equivalent to existing broadand streaming or
pay-per-view TV, but with a more convenient revenue stream built in by
default. It also means that users can access video from wherever they
happen to be and interact more wholly in the broadcast experience; each
3G call will establish a one-to-one connection with the service allowing
for a completely new level of interactivity. Two-way 3G services utilising
the return video captured by the camera on all 3G mobile phones will allow
for innovative additions to existing dating services, call-centre operations
and interactive call-ins. Splitting of the video call into video and audio
channels, as well as remote recording and outbound video calls further
add to the huge array of options that are now possible. |
