Feb 2007: Requestec launch Vidibar and Manscene on 3G

Live mobile 3G video social networking luaunched for the straight and gay communities.

Vidibar and Manscene are unique in that they match people by age and location before allowing them to video chat and leave video mail for each other without ever having to give away their mobile phone number. Users are free to browse other live callers or look at video profiles of their local matches before making contact, and are notified by free text message whenever a new video message is left for them. There is no subscription required and members are free to exchange contact details whenever they like. All in all, a sexy, fun new way of keeping in touch with other members whilst on the move.

The service can be accessed by making a video call to 62888 or 89894 and calls are charged at 25p per minute over standard video calling costs. Like SMS short codes, video short codes are quickly gaining recognition as a convenient means of accessing streamed video content to a 3G mobile phone.
